I’ve seen a lot of my friends and family recapping their year. Until I was asked what my favorite memories of 2014 were, I hadn’t really thought about it. Weird as it may be (or I may be), New Years Day is just another day to me. Then I wonder if I’m missing something. 😉
So while I did have to be prompted to take a few moments and think about it, once I did, the memories started flooding in. I’m a glass half full kind of girl so I remember the good stuff. I started sharing my highlights of 2014 with my husband and he, on the other hand, remembers things a bit differently.
My blog has brought me some incredible opportunities so a lot of my highlights are blogging related. Although the great thing about blogging is that my family can, a lot of the time, enjoy the opportunity with me. For example, my husband and I went on our first cruise this past may.
I remember the cruise as a wonderful way to spend the week with my husband. Alone time that we don’t get often. We relaxed, we enjoyed the sun, the entertainment, the uninterrupted time. My husband remembers almost drowning when we went snorkeling and the 3 weeks he was sick with vertigo after the cruise. Yikes!! Ok so the cruise didn’t completely hold the best memories for my husband but he did admit that it was a great quality time that he and I spent together.
The cruise departed from Galveston, TX so before and after we got to meet and spend time with our very good friends, Peter and Shar, who live close. That was pretty special as well. After the visit, we have set our sites on moving to Texas! We love it there.
With my blogging, I was also invited to 2 Disney press trips in 2014. In March I attended the Muppets Most Wanted Red carpet event, previewed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and previewed Disneynature’s Bears! It was incredible!! My favorite moments were probably interviewing Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie. Plus, experiencing all of this with one of my best blogging friends Sherry made it even more memorable!
During this fun filled/packed event, we also visited a few of the ABC sets including sets of The Middle and Grey’s Anatomy. Holy man, two of my favorite shows and I was on the set!! (After I got home, I also got to have a phone interview with Atticus Shaffer. What an amazing young man)!
So many amazing memories on just that trip alone. If I wrote about them all, this post would be really really long! Or longer than it already is. 😉
In May the family road tripped to the Social Fabric blogger conference in Arkansas. (Which, by the way, I have loved working with the SoFab community. Another great opportunity that I have because of my blog). It was great to be able to take the family with us and since we were close, we made a few stops on the way back. Including the the home of President Lincoln. I remember going when I was a kid and wanted my kids to experience it as well. They loved it!
My blog also afforded me the opportunity to work as a Medifast blogger. I started the journey back in July and am still blogging for them. With my weight loss journey, I also made the decision to have weight loss surgery. Two months after the surgery, I’m now feeling almost fully recovered and have lost a total of 30+ lbs. I’m looking forward to shedding the rest of those extra lbs!
In September, I attended my second Disney press trip of the year – Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Event. So many incredible moments from this trip including interviewing the cast. Ie: Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell. Hello?!! Amazing right!
We also previewed Planes: Fire & Rescue, visited the Van Nuys Airtanker Base, previewed Star Wars Rebel as well as interviewed the cast! You can find all of these awesome adventures in my Disney category.
Oh my goodness, and I can’t forget visiting the home of Walt Disney himself AND heading off to Disneyland! We got to visit during the Halloween season. It’s always an incredible sight to see the park all decorated for Halloween. All of these moments are definitely once in a life time things!
Plus, I got to meet my long time blogging friend Jenn!! Loved spending time with her.
Our family also fit in a trip to Florida. We enjoyed several days in the Orlando area staying with Global Resort Homes. From there we stayed at the Hilton Sandestin. This was definitely one of my favorite destinations and vacations. I would be in heaven if we lived right on the beach in the Sandestin area. So amazing!
We also got to visit and spend a little time with 3 great friends! Sherry in the Orlando area, Summer in the Destin area and Lembas on our drive back home. It’s always great to be able to see these wonderful ladies!
Soon after that trip, my husband was invited by Extra Life to the Children’s Miracle Network celebration in Orlando, FL. Tim, myself and our daughter Faith attended. It was a great trip but unfortunately, Faith got really sick a couple days in and we had to head home early. 🙁 That sickness led to a Crohn’s flair up for her. That was a long two months. She’s doing better now and we’re hoping she’ll get back to normal soon.
That leaves us with November and December where I organized an incredible Holiday Gift Guide and was blessed to have worked with some incredible bloggers and brands!!
On a more personal note, my oldest just got his temps and is learning to drive. That’s exciting and scary! We’re still homeschooling and the kids are doing great. I’m always amazed at how they grow and learn. I now have 2 teens and 2 pre-teens. Yikes!!
So this was a pretty big nutshell of fun and exciting things that 2014 held for me. I’m looking to even more in 2015! What are some of your favorite memories? Are you looking forward to new adventures in 2015?
