How did you all do over the Holidays?? Every year before this, I’ve always gained. It’s just been inevitable. But I’m happy to report that I’m back in the minus column!
That’s one thing with the weight loss surgery, it’s a tool that helps you continue to lose. Even though I normally would have over indulged, I just couldn’t. Having a smaller stomach helped me stop when I was full. I had a little more variety with Christmas vs. Thanksgiving because my stomach is healed, but I didn’t over eat.
Another good tip that I’d like to share is the rule of 4s. During this month’s weight loss support meeting, someone mentioned the rule of 4. She has not had her surgery yet so this is her way of cutting back on her portions starting now. Especially over the Holidays.
The rule of 4 is, you have whatever you’d like (within reason of course) but you only take 4 bites. Regular size bites. That’s it. So 4 bites of ham, 4 bites of mash potatoes, 4 bites of whatever. I think that’s a great way to help with portion control.
Speaking of ham. YUM. I very much enjoyed having ham. 🙂
I’m still using the Medifast Ready to Drink shakes and am now even starting to have the Medifast bars. They are both a quick thing for me to grab and have in my purse for when I’m out and about.
So progress to date:
I’m down a total of 30 lbs with my 3 lb weight loss last week. That’s 30 lbs in 6 weeks. My doctor would like another 20 lbs by mid February so hopefully my body doesn’t take any more ‘breaks’ and will continue to shed those lbs!
I’m also finally getting my energy back so I’m looking forward to getting back to karate and even going to the gym with the hubby.

First, let me say CONGRATS on your success! You have done an awesome job and I wish you continued success. I need to lose at least 20 pounds and I know it is going to be a real challenge with my limited physical capabilities. But I love the Rule of 4 and will certainly try it when I am out.

I love the rule of 4. I have never heard that before but I can easily see how that would help with portion control. Thanks for seeing it as something worth sharing! Every little tip helps!
