I have struggled with my weight my whole life. There are not many pictures of me “thin.” There were times where I’d lose a little weight but then it’d come back on.
I’ve been on diets, I’ve changed my eating habits, I’ve increased my physical activity. If I lost any weight, it’d come back on.
A few years ago I started seeing an endocrinologist. He tried several different options. Nothing worked. Finally he told me that my body was ‘set’ at this weight and no matter what I did, my body would just want to be at this weight. He suggested weight loss surgery.
I put it off for awhile and then finally filled out the application. I had a visit with the surgeon and started the 6 month process.
Last week, I got the approval letter from my insurance company. It’s set. I’m nervous but excited. This will be my chance to reset my body chemistry.
Will it be easy? Am I taking the ‘easy way out?’ Absolutely not! I’m in for a long road but I feel like this is the road I need to take.
I’ve lost a little bit of weight with Medifast but have since hit a wall. It’s that weight that my body has programmed and doesn’t want to budge. But I’m not giving up Medifast.
