Do you get a seasonal flu shot? I don’t usually but I have been the past few years. Why now? What changed my mind?
This little girl:
(Sorry the picture is grainy…I received a better camera that Christmas so my pictures are improving. 😉 )
Faith is my reason for getting a seasonal flu shot.
She has Crohn’s Disease.
In order to treat her Crohn’s they suppress her immune system. This means that her immune system is not strong enough to fight everyday germs and viruses. If she gets something, she may end up in the hospital. It’s vital for us to protect her from as much as possible. That means that the whole family gets immunizations. I need to get my seasonal flu shot so that I don’t bring the flu back to her.
I love that I can stop into my local Walgreens and get my seasonal flu shot and other immunizations right there. I can also grab those things that are always on my shopping list: milk, bread, toilet paper. Couldn’t be more convenient!
While I was there, I get a text that we need trash bags and nail polish remover.
Whew! Thankfully I can get all of the above right at Walgreens.
Plus Walgreens has an awesome campaign in partnership with the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign – “Get a Shot. Give a Shot.®”
In America, we have access to life saving vaccines. But not all countries have that luxury. When you get your immunizations at Walgreens, you will help provide a vaccine to a child in a developing country. Get a Shot. Give a Shot. Anything that we can do will help! Coordinated worldwide vaccination efforts have made significant progress, particularly in reducing cases of measles and polio.
Walgreens is also helping in the United States. They have donated $10 million worth of free flu shot vouchers to Americans without health insurance coverage and those unable to afford one without a voucher through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Are you getting your seasonal flu shot this year?
If so, consider getting it right at Walgreens and supporting the “Get a Shot. Give a Shot.®” campaign.
