Have you always wanted to learn a new language? Or maybe you took a foreign language in high school or college and didn’t really come away with any proficiency?
That’s where I’m at. I took 2 years of Spanish in High School and really only remember the basics. Like ¿Dónde está el baño? And of course, hola, etc. I think I actually retained more watching Dora when the kids were little. 😉
I am getting to try out Babbel. I chose to refresh my Spanish and just went through lesson 1.

You can learn 13 languages with Babbel: Spanish, Italian, French, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Turkish, Polish, Indonesian, Dutch, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish and English. There is over 7000 hours of language learning content so you’ll have plenty of instruction. They also have cross-platform learning so that you can choose where, how and when you’d like to learn. You can use Babbel with the full feature app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Also available is vocabulary trainer apps for Android, Windows 8, Windows phone 8 and Kindle Fire.
Babbel teaches you real communication situations so that if you traveled to the country, you might be able to use what you’ve learned. I love learning this way because it’s so useful. All courses are divided into small learning units so that you can pick up and do a lesson here or there when you have time. Ie: in the waiting room, waiting for your kids to get done with practice, before bed at night, etc.
I love how Babbel takes you through learning. I believe this program is designed more for adults but I don’t see any reason that it wouldn’t be great for older kids too. I can see my oldest using Babbel to learn his foreign language. He needs to have foreign language credits to graduate so this would be great for him.
If you’re looking to learn a new language, I think Babbel would be great!
