Is school back in session for you yet? We are getting curriculum ordered and set to start soon! Even thinking about back to school starts to make me panic. We are not exactly “morning people” around my home. We much rather hang out in the evenings and maybe stay up a little too late, so it can be a little difficult to wake up early in the morning after a summer of sleeping in. So I use a few tips and tricks to get my family up and moving in the morning.
1. Make a schedule and stick to it! I know it sounds easy, but trust me. Plan out a schedule, write it where everyone can see, and stick to it. It will make the morning go by more smoothly!
2. Plan out meals the night before! Yes, we homeschool but that doesn’t mean that having meals planned out isn’t helpful. If we don’t plan out meals ahead of time, sometimes meals get forgotten OR kids are just grabbing whatever they find whether healthy or not. If you public school, plan and pack lunches the night before. That will greatly smooth out your morning routine.
3. Organize, Organize, Organize! We have a a place for everything so we know exactly where it is the morning. We have a place for our curriculum, all school materials are organized and stocked. We are ready for the day without all the hassle!
4. Always make time for a hot breakfast! There is something about a hot breakfast that makes you feel more awake and satisfied. We LOVE Jimmy Dean® Sausage, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches. It’s easy to make, and always available in the freezer section at a great price at Walmart!
But mornings aren’t the only thing you have to get used to for the school year is it?
We can’t forget about a great afternoon routine too! After a full day of school, kids are hungry. And if they are into sports, we can run from one activity to the next. They need fuel to get through.
When shopping at Walmart for back to school supplies I let my kids pick out some after school snacks, and one of their picks was State Fair® Classic Corn Dogs because who doesn’t love food on a stick!? Plus, it’s easy enough that the kids can make it themselves while homework. Serve them up with some different dipping sauces and you have a perfect after school snack!
What tricks do you use to make the school day easier? Here are some great tips!
