2014 KIA Soul gets an Upgrade

Disclosure: We received a 2014 KIA Soul to test drive for a week in order to give our honest opinion.

KIA Soul

Every once and awhile, I get to test drive an awesome vehicle from KIA. Last year, I reviewed the 2013 KIA Soul. The 2014 KIA Soul came with several upgrades so I was excited to get in the drivers seat and test it out!

It just so happened that the week I received the car, my homeschool friends and I were heading to the MACHE Conference in Duluth, MN. This is about a 3 hour drive for us so it was the perfect road trip for the KIA Soul. I laughed when one of the first things my friends said was that she associated the Soul with the jamming hamsters.

The first day of our trip was beautiful! I loved being able to open up the sun roof! The sun roof spans most of the roof which gives plenty of sun for all passengers! After a long, long winter, having all of this sun is amazing!

My friends were worried that we might not have enough room for the 4 of us plus our luggage. I didn’t think there would be any issues since it was just a 2 day trip but I was not aware just how much the others would be bringing with. No worries though, the 2014 KIA Soul has plenty of room. We packed everything in the back and had plenty of leg room for a comfy 3 hour ride.

When I reviewed the 2013 KIA Soul, we took an even longer road trip and I sat in the back. I didn’t think the back seat was comfy enough for that long of road trip but it wasn’t terrible. Thankfully, KIA thought to improve this and the 2014 ride is much better. My friends enjoyed the ride and were very comfy in the back.

My kids loved it too! And look at that sun!!

We really enjoyed some of the upgraded features of the 2014 KIA Soul. The technology really got a boost. In the 2014, we now can enjoy the UVO eServices, an 8″ touch screen, Android-based operating platform and easy to find buttons on the steering wheel.

One of my favorites every time I get into any of the KIA vehicles is the radio. I love having the Sirius XM radio. This is such a fabulous feature and they made it even better with the options to pause, rewind and forward!! I thought it was funny when I took my husband for a test drive – he commented that they really should have a pause option. HA! They do! They’ve thought of everything!

KIA Soul

We really enjoyed our road trip and then just be bopping around town in the 2014 KIA Soul. The sun felt amazing coming through that sun roof. Although, in true Wisconsin weather, we had sun on one day and snow/sleet the next. So while I was missing the sun, I also enjoyed the heated seats and heated steering wheel. What a treat that was!

Still one of my favorite features is the review cam. This option never gets old.

The upgraded 2014 KIA Soul is awesome! So much awesomeness packed into one vehicle and really value priced for all of the options you can get. If you haven’t checked out the KIA Soul lately, go take a test drive!

While I love KIA I just didn’t care for the boxy shape of the Soul. After seeing all the great features and just how much can be packed in there, the Soul just got added to the list of possibles.
