I am a huge fan of all of the home shows on TV. Any and all of them. I love watching families go through the home buying process, looking through several homes and then deciding which one they would choose.
I can also get sucked in to the remodeling shows. Sometimes it feels like when you move into an older house, there are always remodeling projects to do. A never ending list of to-dos.
Being a homeowner is awesome. We love owning our own home. We rented for so many years and there were so many things that we couldn’t do. We couldn’t paint the walls or personalize the home to really make it our own. We couldn’t even get pets. We were looking forward to all of that when we started the home buying process.
Owning your own home comes with some big responsibilities. Depending on if you’re looking for a older home or a newly built home, your focus can really change. When I watch these home shows, it’s interesting to see the different tastes of the buyers. There’s those that love the old home charm and then those that love the new modern feel.
I’m definitely one that prefers the new modern feel. I’d much rather buy new and step right into a brand new home and get a fresh new start. Not only are you stepping into a new home but it’s a home that you can help customize right from the start. It’s your home that you’ve personalized from the start of the building process. Plus, with a newly built home, you can forget that to-do list. Instead you’ll have a want-to-do list because you won’t need to spend time on repairing, remodeling, etc.
