Here we go.. we are on to Weight Loss Tips #5.
If you haven’t read up on the other tips, you can find them in my weight loss category.
We all eat on dinner plates, right? What if we ate our dinner on SALAD plates? You know… the smaller plate.
We’ve tried it and I’m here to tell you that it actually works! Instead of over filling your dinner plate (because there’s so much more room on the plate), when you fill the salad plate with food it looks like you have more to eat. So, in fact, you’re tricking your mind into thinking you are eating more food than you are actually consuming.
When we tried this method over the last few months and we’ve found that we aren’t eating as much as when we used the bigger dinner plates.
The other trick is to not go back and grab seconds of dinner. Did you realize that it actually takes your brain 20-30 minutes to realize that your stomach is full? So if you’re still hungry after 20 minutes, then maybe eat a bit more. Otherwise, skip the seconds.
Have you tried the smaller plate methodology? How else do you keep yourself from over eating? Share your tricks and secrets below.
Now on to my weight loss update.
I am now at 198 lbs!! I am THRILLED to be in the 100s.. finally in ONEDERLAND! Woohooo! However, I’ve only lost 2 lbs in the last couple of weeks so not thrilled with that. It’s time for me to kick it in high gear and get out of this stall that I’m in. Time to get back to the gym and zumba class!!
After all, I’d love to shed another 5-10 lbs before heading the the #AvengersEvent in LA next month!!

Great advice! I just started doing this more regularly and it definitely helps, in my opinion. Our dinner plates our huge and there is no reason that I needed that much food. I’ve been trying to wait to eat more too and it helps that my 3 boys and foster daughter all come behind and usually finish everything, no matter how much I’ve made 😉 Thanks so much for the encouragement to be the healthiest mom I can be and congrats on your weight loss!
