You might feel that you do your best in every aspect of your life, especially when your kids are concerned. And while you may live a healthy lifestyle and try to communicate this to your kids, as well as keep on top of the house duties and try to maintain some sense of balance for everybody, you may feel that you are out of balance. And when you’re a busy mother, it can feel like there is little time for you, and even less time to treat yourself. But what can you do to give yourself that little bit of self-love when you just don’t have the opportunity?
Buy Yourself That Thing You Wanted
It is the pinnacle of sheer indulgence! And you do deserve it! Whether it’s that Cartier bracelet that you’ve been eyeing up or that foot spa, if you haven’t bought anything for yourself for a while, and you’ve been lusting after it for months if not years, why don’t you?! Even if it’s something very small such as rimless glasses or a new chic jacket, these little things will make you feel on top of the world again. As a busy mom, you don’t often find the chance to treat yourself to material items; your priority is always your children. Buying them essentials will always be number one to you, but now is the time to make yourself smile! Besides, if it is that little thing that will make you feel fantastic and you don’t have the opportunity to go on vacation, consider this to be an investment in your happiness.
Setting Aside An Afternoon
If you feel like you never have any time to yourself, and the only opportunity you really have is scouring social media just before you go to sleep, it’s worth setting aside a couple of hours so you can focus on quality “me time.” Setting aside an afternoon may seem impossible but for all those people out there that have to structure their life, whether they run businesses or work every hour under the sun, they schedule in time to themselves. When you feel like there is no time, look at your calendar, and start to see if things can be more densely structured. When there’s a two-hour window, take it! This is all you need to have a soak in the tub, do your nails, or just go for a walk!
Learn To Let Go
Are there things that you think you have to do, or can they actually wait? Would you feel like there are so many duties that are supposedly necessary, when you start to break them down into things that are essential, and things that can wait, you can start to realize just how much pressure you are piling upon yourself. When it comes to something like that second bathroom that nobody uses, does it need cleaning every week? Of course, it doesn’t! We have to let go of these little things, and this, in conjunction with a better structure can mean that we free up more time to do things for ourselves. And when there are so many things that need doing, after your children have grown up and flown the nest, will you look back and realize you spent more time cleaning than you did hanging out with your children? We all want to spend more time with our kids but we also feel that the house needs cleaning. But this is where certain little cleaning hacks can come in handy.
Time is the gift you give yourself, and when you are so busy, part of it is about making time for yourself, some indulgence never hurt.
