Have you been hearing more and more about STEM skills lately? What even is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and STEM products encourage kids to develop core skills in these areas.
I have always encouraged learning through play with my kids. I think when they are having fun, they don’t even realize that they are learning. And I think that developing logic and problem solving skills is so important. If a child can problem solve, they can do so much!
I love to see more and more STEM toys on the market. Best Buy carries products from basic learning games to advanced toys designed to stimulate a child’s mind in the STEM areas.
We were sent the Jimu Robot to test out!
Create a custom-built robot that has moving arms and legs with this UBTech Jimu Robot Buzzbot and Muttbot kit. Choose from preprogrammed movements in the Jimu Robot App, or generate unique settings with the PRP function. This UBTech Jimu Robot Buzzbot and Muttbot kit includes 271 interlocking parts and is designed for children ages 8 and older.
What an awesome way to learn while having fun! With the Jimu Robot app, it makes it easy to learn construction techniques. And as they master construction, they can always generate unique settings with the PRP function.
I let my kids experiment with Jimu. I wanted to see how easy it was for them to put together on their own. Abbie and Caleb originally started putting it together and then Abbie finished it on her own.
Now, I’ll be honest, we did have some issues with the app. I think they are still working out some technical difficulties. And I think along the way, Jimu got some wires crossed. We plugged it in and charged it then tried it out. We got some movement but his feet are all mixed up and when he tries to walk, he starts falling a part. So it’s back to the drawing board.
But isn’t that part of the problem solving skills that kids are learning? It’s still a great teaching tool and I’m sure with some time, we’ll get this figured out and get Jimu up and walking.
The Jimu Robot is priced at $149.99 and is recommended for ages 8+. Psssst… Best Buy actually has it on sale right now for $137.99!

I don’t think there’s anything better than toys that encourage children to learn and explore and use their intelligence.
