How to Ensure Your Business is Seen By All the Right People

If you want to run a business that is as successful as it can possibly be, then as well as having a great product or service, and as well as working as hard as you can to make things happen, you need to have a way of ensuring that the people who are most likely to be into whatever it is you are selling, actually get to see your company in all of its glory. Arguably, this is the most important part of running a business, but also one of the trickiest to achieve, especially if you are new to it all.

The good news is, we know what works to get visibility in all of the right places, and what does not, and we have put together a quick guide to help you get it right, and ensure your business is seen by all the right people, below.

Know Who You’re Actually Trying to Reach

If you want to ensure that your business reaches all of the right people, then it stands to reason that, first of all, you need to know who all of the right people are. You need to narrow down your target audience from everyone to the people who are most likely to appreciate and engage with whatever it if your company is doing. After all, you do not want to waste time and money talking to people who are never going to buy what you are selling, right?

So, yes, the first step to being seen is knowing who you want to see you. Are you looking to sell high-fashion? Then you are probably targeting people in their 20s, 30s and 40s who have professional jobs and lots of disposable income. Selling tech? Then you might want to target males in their 30s. Selling toys? Then you will want to target young parents who are looking to keep their kids entertained.

Take some time to think about what your product does, who it serves best, and then narrow down your efforts to target them and only them, and you will see better results than a broader marketing strategy.

Create a Brand People Actually Remember

If there’s one thing that a business needs to be to succeed, it is memorable. How do you make your company memorable? It’s a tricky thing to achieve, for sure, but it starts with your branding, If you think your brand is just a neat logo and a cool color scheme that vibes with your target audience, then you are wrong, to say the least, Sure, a great logo and the right colors are important, but they are not, on their own, all it takes to succeed. What you actually need is a personality. You need to show your audience who you are in every interaction they have with you.

Basically, your brand should kind of be like that one charismatic person at the party who everyone remembers, even if they only met them briefly. Not because they were shouting the loudest, but because they had something interesting to say, a style that stood out, and maybe a story that made people laugh. You want your brand to feel like that.

Consistency is key here. Whether it’s your website, social channels, or that email you send at 8 p.m. because inspiration struck, your voice and look should always feel like you.

Get Online and Actually Stay There

If your business doesn’t show up online, it might as well not exist. Harsh but true. People are looking for you on Google, social media, review sites, and random forums where someone named “Gary89” is asking where to find the best plumber in town. If they can’t find you, they’ll find someone else.

Start with a clean, easy-to-navigate website. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but it does have to work, load quickly, and actually tell people what you do. Bonus points for adding fresh content now and then—blogs, videos, or FAQs that make you look like the knowledgeable genius you are.

Get Comfortable with Social Media (But Not Too Comfortable)

Social media is a double-edged sword. Done right, it’s free visibility and a way to connect with potential customers. Done wrong, it’s endless posts about your sale that no one wants to read.

Pick platforms your audience actually uses. If your customers are all over LinkedIn, maybe TikTok isn’t where you need to be posting dance trends (unless you’re weirdly good at them). Post valuable content—tips, behind-the-scenes stories, things that make people want to engage. And, for the love of sanity, don’t just copy what every other business is doing. If everyone else is posting boring stock photos with generic captions, you have the perfect opportunity to stand out by being interesting.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help

You don’t need to become a marketing wizard overnight. Sometimes, the smartest thing you can do is get professional help to push your business into the spotlight. That could mean working with someone who knows how to boost visibility with marketing experts who understand your industry and know how to get you in front of the right audience.

Hiring experts can save you from wasting months on guesswork, letting you focus on what you actually do best—running your business without turning into a stressed-out ball of DIY marketing despair.

Reviews and Word of Mouth Still Matter

Think reviews are just for restaurants and Amazon sellers? Think again. Word of mouth, both online and offline, is still one of the most powerful ways to build trust and get noticed.

Encourage your happy customers to leave reviews, share their experiences, or tell their friends. Offer a small incentive if you need to. People trust other people far more than they trust ads, so get those testimonials front and center on your website and social channels.

Local Visibility is More Important Than You Think

Even in our “everything online” world, local visibility can make or break a business. If you have a physical location or serve a specific area, you want to dominate local searches and be seen as the go-to option. Luckily, this can be as easy as setting up a Google Business Profile. Doing a little local SEO, and taking the time to actually engage with the people who live closest to your company, whether that’s out in the community or online.

Measure, Adjust, Repeat

Getting noticed is one of those things that you have to constantly work at because, let’s be honest, someone who notices you today, may not see you at all, or give you even a second thought in a month’s time. So, you need to keep up with the algorithms and trends, and keep making an effort to catch people’s eyes week after week, month after month, year after year.

This means you always have to have one eye on what’s working and what isn’t.  Are people engaging with certain posts? Are certain pages on your website getting more traffic? Know what is and isn’t doing it for your audience and tweak accordingly.

Stop hiding, start shining!
