When I was a kid, we were just learning how to turn on and off the Apple II. I remember having to take a special class so that we knew how to use them. There was a special order for how you should turn them on and turn them off.
We didn’t have email. Our form of ’email’ was a notebook that my best friend and I would pass back and forth. That was how we communicated. Or hours and hours on the phone.
Now a days, kids have access to so much more. They’re online, making social media accounts and can get an email account easily. When is the perfect age to start allowing them to be on social media and have access to email? It’s a tough decision and is probably different for each family and each child.
My husband and I are keeping our kids off the internet for as long as possible. However, they start needing to have an email account for different things. So if they need an email, I’d prefer that they have a safe email. Something that we can set up and I can monitor.

My oldest was watching youtube and happened to click a link, then another link and another link. He found himself at a pretty nasty web site. I love that you can remove links and ads with Kids Email. Even when accidental, kids can get to clicking and who knows where they’ll end up.
