Best Reusable Keurig Filters
I haven’t always been a coffee drinker. It was actually only after I met my husband and lived in Washington State that I started drinking coffee. Must have been that good Seattle coffee that did it. 😉 A couple of years ago we bought a Keurig. I LOVE my Keurig! Buying the k cups is a bit expensive and seeing all of those k-cups go in the garbage day after day does make me wonder how long before our landfills are just one big pile of k-cups.
So I’ve been on the lookout for the Best Reusable Keurig Filters. The first one I bought (who will rename nameless) was awful. It leaked all over the place and got grounds in my coffee. :/ I tried everything to get it to work but no luck.
Then I came across the EZ-Cup. I contacted the company and told them about my search to find the Best Reusable Keurig Filters. Understanding my need for great coffee, they not only sent me the EZ-Cup to review but the Eco-Fill as well.
Reusable Keurig Filters
The Main Differences of the EZ-Cup and Eco-Fill:
-EZ-Cup is easier to clean. Mesh Filters need to be rinsed out in the sink after each use.
-EZ-Cup Filters filter our coffee sediments better then nylon mesh screens.
-The EZ-Cup has a better tamping system with the spring inside
-The Mesh Filter type Reusable K-Cups become insanitary over time if you have to keep rinsing and reusing the same filter. (This may change the flavor of the coffee as well) Constantly replacing paper filters in the EZ-Cup always ensures a fresh brew without any foreign tastes.
Although the EZ-Cup is still a superior product compared to the Eco-Fill it is still a great option if you’d rather not buy the paper filters.
Take a look at the video I made using both:
You can find both on Amazon as well:
As far as which one I would prefer? I like using both and will switch between them actually. However, I would probably say I like the EZ-Cup a bit better because of the paper filter and not having to clean the grounds out of it afterwards. My family has been asking my opinion and I’ve just been telling them it really depends on their preference.
Take a look on their Facebook page to for other coffee brewer options.
Disclosure: I was provided the above mentioned product for review purposes only. All opinions are my own.

Thank you so much for this review! I’ve been trying to find a filter that works, now I don’t have to keep trying different filters.

😀 They are pretty great! I stopped buying the regular kcups so my husband had no choice to start using them. He does though and hasn’t complained.

Hi Dawn…this is old post but did find a cleaning brush for these things on Amazon. I’m sure you know cleaning is a bear after every cup if you use your own grounds. I haven’t tried the other filters you’ve mentioned. The Keurig My K Cup seems to work fine. Very happy you are home schooling 😉

Oh what a great point! Yes, cleaning is not fun. Thanks for the tips!
Yes, homeschooling is such a great journey. 🙂

The Keurig ‘K Cup’ Reusable Basket Filters can be difficult to clean since they use two layers of micro mesh–particulates and scaling occurs between them. Many times the recommended vinegar cleaning will not remove the blockage, forcing people to trash their old basket and purchase another $10 replacement basket filter.
.
After trying multiple cleaning agents and techniques, including drain cleaner, here is the only thing that will completely clean the basket, in minutes with very little effort:
.
1) Purchase a can of inexpensive lye-based oven cleaner.
2) Follow use precautions on the can for safety and heating.
3) Get a ceramic mug
4) Carefully spray the inside and outside of the filter over the mug.
5) Place the filter in the mug, with the base on the bottom of the mug.
6) Preheat oven to 200 degrees, less than the temp of boiling water.
7) Place the mug in the oven for 20 minutes.
8) Carefully remove mug. Since the mug is hot, do not subject it to cold water.
9) Remove the filter and thoroughly clean the basket filter.
10) When cool, thoroughly clean the mug.
