It’s Monday and a typical Monday at that. Everyone is having a hard time getting moving this morning, none of them want to do their school work and I need the weekend to come back. Or have a good cup of coffee. Maybe two!
I love my coffee! I never used to but since I met my husband, who introduced me to mochas, I’ve been a believer. 😉
In the summer time, I love iced coffees and frappes. Going to McDonalds to get my fix adds up quickly. So why not just make your favorite drinks at home?!
I found my favorite homemade caramel frappe recipe but now that it’s fall, I’m loving the McDonalds Caramel Mocha more often.
Here’s a great copy cat McDonalds Caramel Mocha recipe that you can enjoy right from home. The recipe calls for milk. You can use whatever milk you like. I actually used Almond Milk. With this recipe, there’s a lot of give and take for how you prefer it. So start with the basic ingredients and then use more or less to suit your taste.
Let me know how you like it and/or what your substitutions are.

I am soo Excited! I tried McDonalds Carmel Mocha yesterday for the first time during a business meeting…. and it was great! The company had Mochas sent in from McDonalds. When I saw the size of the cup I was like….. this cup is huge! I immediately concluded if this coffee is good it won’t fit into my budget. Your recipe was G-R-R-R-R-E-A-T! (in the words of Tony the Tiger)… Thanks so much for sharing… It probably would have been even better had I followed the recipe. I didn’t have caramel sauce, but my son had the caramel sauce that freezes once you pour it (made by smuckers) the coffee was hot enough for it not to solidify….. Yipppie…

Where can I get the carmal and chocolate sauces?
Dawn says
Usually in the ice cream toppings section or in the condiment aisle.

Is there a certain name brand of coffee u use
Dawn says
I use my Keurig and I usually get the Gloria Jeans Hazelnut. But I don’t think it matters much.

I know you say it doesn’t make any difference what type of coffee to use but this is the first time I’ve ever drank coffee and its only been the McDonald’s. I stand in front of the coffee aisle and there is so much to choose from it just blows my mind. there are so many different types. do you know by any chance the exact type of coffee that McDonald’s uses. I also noticed on the coffee it says mild, strong rich, etc. and then it’s just becomed very confusing.just need a little bit more clarification thanks for your time lynda
Dawn says
No, I do not know what kind of coffee they use. Sorry! You may just need some trial and error until you find the one you like best.

I believe all you need to do to this recipe is add ice. I’m going through trial and error myself to figure out how much to use or not use of each!

I like their regular mochas without the caramel. If I left out the caramel would it be the same? Or should I put in extra chocolate?
Dawn says
I would think it’d still taste good. I’d probably add extra chocolate but you might have to experiment to get it how you like it.
Jasmine says
I will try this since I am not coffee person.
I do like McDonald’s but it is expensive.
Echo Rooker says
McDonald’s actually uses Expresso rather than coffee. I know this because I get so mad when I go to order my hot Caramel Mocha and either the Expresso machine is down or they are cleaning it.
You can find expresso k-cups, but if you have your own Expresso machine, I’m sure that would be the best thing to use to make a Caramel Mocha just like McDonald’s!
