3 Signs Your Tech is Having Hardware Issues

July 10, 2025 by Contributed Post Filed Under: Tech Leave a Comment

The hardware we use in our daily lives can throw a lot of errors at us. Our desktop PCs, our gaming consoles, and our phones and tablets can all have performance issues, glitch, and eventually go kaput in our hands. And they said technology was going to make life more convenient!

The trick is to get ahead of the worst hardware issues before they strike. The best way to do that is to know the surefire signs that a device is on its way out. And if you’re interested, the three below definitely need paying attention to!

Your Phone is Overheating More Often

An overheating phone is not a fun thing to deal with at all! When a phone overheats quite frequently, not only is it uncomfortable to hold and hard to use, but it could also be damaging any number of assets inside the case.

Your battery can be most at risk here, but both your screen and phone enclosure can suffer as well. Pay attention to when the overheating issue occurs. Is it triggered by an app? Or does your phone just seem prone to overheating?

Your PC Frequently Blue Screens

Are BSODs firing at least once a week? That’s not typically a good sign, and it could even mean your hardware is about to blow.

Of course, they could be a sign that something wasn’t installed properly or a connection has slipped out somewhere and simply needs popping back in. But most of the time, they signal that your hardware is both outdated and degrading. If your blue screens are accompanied by tech support codes that are different every time, this is unfortunately the more than likely case.

Of course, you can always double check with a computer repair service by noting down these codes, as well as what you were doing when the blue screen occurred, and getting a professional’s opinion on the state of your system. But if it’s been a while since you upgraded your PC, it’s probably time to invest in a new one.

Your Device is Super Slow

No matter the device in question, if it’s started to be slow to respond and only seems to be getting worse, it’s time to either repair or replace it.

A console that takes ages to start up, a phone that takes more than half a second to respond to a tap, and a PC that’s constantly freezing are all devices that may be in need of shutting off forever.

You’ll want to dig into the system files a little first, to check if there’s anything in there causing the response issues. Sometimes you just need a bit more memory hanging around! Make sure to run an antivirus and/or antimalware scan as well, just to be sure you don’t have anything nasty wormed into the system either.

The three signs above are almost guarantees that your hardware might not last much longer. Get your devices checked out to be sure.
