For those of us on the Keto journey, you may have recently heard of the Chaffle. It’s certainly been the buzz in the Keto Recipe groups that I’m in.
What is a Chaffle and where on earth did it come from?
The most basic explanation of a Chaffle is that it’s a great bread alternative when on the keto diet. It mimics the look of a waffle but Keto users have been using Chaffles in all sorts of recipes from sandwiches to desserts. There are a ton of Keto Chaffle Recipes out there!
As near as I can tell, a Keto loving Instagrammer came up with the first Chaffle recipe and from there, the internet exploded…. and so did sales of the little Dash Waffle Maker.
The Dash Waffle Maker (or any mini waffle maker) makes the perfect size Chaffle for sandwiches, hamburger buns, sweet treats, etc. Can you use a larger waffle maker? Sure! Just adjust the recipes accordingly.
I have been gathering different Chaffle recipes like a squirrel gathers nuts. The options are numerous! So for my benefit and for yours, I will put together a Keto Chaffle Recipe round up very soon!!
And because I know how much readers do not want a life story before having to get to the recipes, here you go. 😉

Basic Keto Chaffle Recipe
(This is my go to, easy Chaffle Recipe)
Ingredients
1 egg
1 Tbsp shredded cheese (I use colby/jack)
Directions
Heat mini waffle maker.
Lightly scramble 1 egg.
Lightly spread shredded cheese on the bottom of your waffle maker.
Slowly pour scrambled egg on top of cheese.
Lightly top with shredded cheese on top of the egg.
Close waffle maker and cook for a minimum of 3 minutes.
Gently remove Chaffle and allow to cool.
Makes 2 Chaffles. Use as bread, bun, etc or top with toppings of your choosing and enjoy!
Notes: Do not overfill waffle maker. You’ll end up with a mess on your hands. The cheese is how you’ll get that nice crispy outside. It doesn’t take much but you can adjust it to your taste. If you lift the waffle maker lid and the waffle is melty and falling apart, close the lid. It’s not done yet.

Lightly top with a bit more shredded cheese on top of the egg.

Close waffle maker and cook for a minimum of 3 minutes.

Gently remove Chaffle and allow to cool.

Repeat for second Chaffle
Recipe Notes
Makes 2 Chaffles. Use as bread, bun, etc or top with toppings of your choosing and enjoy!
