Disneynature’s Monkey Kingdom is in theaters now! What did I think?
Check out my Monkey Kingdom Review
I had the pleasure of joining 24 of my blogging friends in L.A. this month. While we were there we watched Monkey Kingdom and visited the L.A. Zoo. Monkey Kingdom is rated G and is perfect for the entire family.
Maya is the heroine in this story and we follow Maya along her journey with the troop. Set in beautiful Sri Lanka, with Castle Rock being her troop’s home, Maya must learn to take care of herself and her baby.
I didn’t realize that there was a hierarchy in monkey troops, but there is. It was interesting to watch as Maya navigates this journey, with both good and bad situations. As with the other Disneynature films, this was all recorded over a period of time and then edited before coming to theaters.
I am always completely amazed at how they are able to get the footage and put it all together in an awesome film. The other thing I love about Disneynature films is how they show the bond between mother and child. There is no other greater bond. You’ll always see the lengths these moms go to protect their kids. It’s amazing!
Keep an eye out during the movie for some of the situations that Maya gets herself into and watch as she learns and grows. Fun songs keep the movie fun for smaller kids and they ever-present monkeys keep their attention. Kids will get a lot from this film and parents will, too! Plus, if you attend a movie showing during opening week, Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to Conservation International.
Such fantastic learning for you and the kiddos with Disneynature films like Monkey Kingdom. I love adding this to our homeschool day. It’s like a special field trip for the kids.
I encourage you to head out and see Monkey Kingdom opening week!
