POP QUIZ
Solve the Equation
(kids x 4) + (pets x 3) + (husband x 1) + busy homeschool + blog + mom taxi + cook + housekeeper – ‘me time’ =
A. Complete Loss of Sanity
B. Complete Loss of Sanity
C. Complete Loss of Sanity
D. Complete Loss of Sanity
Ok so it’s a slight haha funny but also pretty true. As moms, dads, caregivers, etc. we’re busy. Life is always on fast forward. No matter what stage of life you are in, getting some me time is important. If I don’t take some me time regularly, my sanity starts disappearing bit by bit. Usually, I don’t think of me time until it’s too late. Until I’m already at the point of having a mini break down.
Can you relate?
How do you get that coveted me time? I’m talking more than just the few minutes you might get in the bathroom by yourself. Although, let’s be honest… if your kids are small, you’re not even getting bathroom time to yourself. You could book a trip, have a girls weekend, maybe head to the spa. But who am I kidding?! I don’t have time (or funds) for that. I need to grab my me time any chance I can get… even if it’s only a few minutes at home.
Here’s some of the ways I get my me time:
1. Go Shopping Alone
Ok, so this is not glamorous, you’re not pampering yourself and may not even be relaxing, however, it’s alone time. My kids are now old enough where they can stay home by themselves. Granted, I don’t leave them alone long but enough where I can go shopping by myself. If your kids are still young, consider getting grandma or a babysitter to watch them so you can go shopping.
Here’s a tip.. while you’re out shopping, stop by Walmart and pick up some McCafé coffee. It’ll come into play for the other ways I get my me time. It’s conveniently located in the coffee aisle.
I was out shopping at Walmart, getting my me time, and stopped at theMcCafé coffee demo cart to have a sample.
This coffee is terrific but no wonder because it’s made with 100% Arabica Beans and harvested from the rich soil and mountainous regions of the foremost coffee-growing areas of the world! There are 8 flavors to choose from (my favorite is the French Vanilla) and is available by the bag or in coffee pods.
2. Coffee and a Book
How long has it been since you read anything other than a kid’s book? If you’re already an avid reader and you read non-kid books regularly, perfect!! You’re already getting some of that me time! If the last thing you read was “Go Dog Go,” then you need to find some new books. A great book where you can escape for a little while. Find a quiet corner of your house (maybe during nap time), grab a nice, warm, soothing cup of coffee, curl up with a blanket and read a book just for you.
3. Visit a Friend
I’m guessing that you have a friend or two who could also use some me time. Grab your favorite flavor of McCafé coffee and surprise your friend. You don’t have to spend an entire afternoon together. If you have the time, then do. Otherwise, just carve out enough time to have a cup of coffee and catch up. You will be so glad you did and will both probably come out of it more rejuvenated. Wouldn’t it be great if you could do this at least once per week?!
Now I’m going to go enjoy my me time with a cup of McCafé coffee and my kindle. How are you going to get in some me time today? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Thanks for the comment, Stephanie! Yes, we sure do need breaks. Even if it’s just a few minutes to catch your breath and clear your head. 🙂

Sounds like a perfect way to unwind. I will definitely grab a package next time at the store and I will make sure I drink it snuggled on the couch with a book also!

Just sounds so good, right!! Especially if you’re living in a Northern state like I am. 🙂

Life IS always so crazy and definitely too busy. We all should definitely try to get more me time even if it is just a few times every week or every other week or once a month… lol Easier said than done, right? I love this post and I’m loving that coffee mug! 🙂

haha. Thanks! 🙂

I’m definitely in the ‘going crazy’ category most of the time and the only thing that helps is coffee and my Kindle or a coffee visit with my friends. Glad to see I’m not alone. 😉
Dawn says
Definitely not alone! 🙂
